Different career options for finance or management students in nepal
Posted by Kristina Newa on July 28, 2016 at 11:17 amWhat could be the possible career options in finance after completing bachelor degree with finance major? Are their other attractive employers apart from banks and factories? Also, I would like to know what can be the possible degree combinations along with BBS to build a career in Finance and management? Are BBS graduates taken seriously in the Job market of Nepal? What about BBS and IT combination like short-term IT courses or masters in IT after BBS (LIKE mit, MSc IT). Share your thoughts.

Finance is a diverse and interesting faculty, you need to decide on one of the specializations in finance after bachelor depending on your interest. Industries and sectors that open up for you after completing a management degree with the finance major as options are Banking, Audit firms (as internal auditors and trainees), Corporate Finance, Financial Consulting, Venture Capital market, Insurance, Wealth Management, Investment Banking, real estate and other. You can either choose to do a post-graduate course right after completing BBS or look to working for a short while before deciding to specialize in any particular field to study in Masters.
The field of public accounting is broad, with many opportunities. Public accountants help businesses and individuals keep track of their finances according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the local accounting standards (Nepal Accounting Standards in the case of Nepal). Public accountants record or guide on recording business transactions, help prepare financial statements, help in preparing management reports related to accounts and finance, audit financial records, prepare income tax returns and/or help to file income tax returns, VAT returns and provide related consulting services.
According to me, Chartered Accounting is the best course to shine in the field of finance and accountancy. By completing CA one can work in finance sector at a top position. Or if we don’t want to work we can run our own auditing firm. CA is the best option for career growth as well as to earn money. Apart from CA there are other professional courses like ACCA, CIMA, CFA etc that can be done after BBS and have a very diverse and wonderful scope. MBA in Finance is also another superior choice after BBS or BBA in Nepal. -

If you have majored in finance or have studied management you are equipped with the knowledge of finance, commerce industry, and accountancy practices, apart from this, you will have knowledge of business organizations, good communication skill, analytical skill and so on.
Graduated with this degree can find job in both small and large, public or private sectors such as accountancy firms, public sector, management consultancies, insurance companies, investment banks, building societies where they can work as stockbrokers, forensic accountant, company secretary, chartered accountant, chartered certified accountant, chartered public finance accountant, chartered management accountant. In addition to this, there are other career options such as Tax advisor, purchasing manager, management consultant, economist, licensed conveyancer etc.
However, just having degree might not be sufficient to find a job in high renowned organizations. It would be wise to work part-time in small firms in order to gain experience. Since you will be handling the huge budgets, an employer would like to be sure if you are skilled enough to work with them.
