    Well as far as i know, ielts is paper based and toefl is online based examination. In America, only about 3000 universities out of around 6000 universities accept ielts. Toefl is accepted in almost all universities in America. You can easily get examination date for TOEFL but for IELTS, you may have to wait for 6 months.
